Client’s Problem: The care home did not have any car park line markings at all so people were parking poorly in the car park, taking up too much space and sometimes even blocking ambulances from getting close to the care home to pick patients up. Barry from the care home contacted us as he was looking for a local road marking contractor.

Our Solution: We met with the client on site to discuss their problem and come up with a solution. We suggested what we thought would be the best parking layout to maximize the use of the space and prevent people from parking in areas they shouldn’t. The client accepted our proposal and the line painting work took place on the day that had been arranged.

On the day of the lining work, our road marking operatives measured the parking areas out and chalked in where all the line markings were going to go. All the lines were then blasted with a thermal compressed air lance to dry the surface and get rid of any dust or dirt to maximize adhesion of the road marking paint to the tarmac. All the lines were then laid using hot-applied thermoplastic screed which is a very hard-wearing & durable line marking material.

As you can see from the photos, the client chose to put yellow hatched “KEEP CLEAR” line markings in all the areas where they do not want people to park. We also created a disabled parking bay and a designated ambulance bay. These new car park line markings not only improve the aesthetics of the car park but they also maximize the use of the space and make it really clear to people where they should and should not park, reducing the chances of vehicles being damages and allowing the ambulance a clear route of access to the building. The job took longer than expected due to poor weather conditions but we stayed on site until the line painting could be completed so that the client did not have to close the car park for another day.
